Technology and Media for Distance Education Concept Map

According to the Moller's article, I would fall in the middle of the static-dynamic continuum because I use the following technologies or learning approaches, wikis, blogs, discussion boards, and chats. To reach the dynamic end of the continuum I will become more involved with other tools such as, virtual simulations, gaming, multi-user environments, and mind tools.

  1. Songa,
From looking at your concept map, it seems that you have identified static learning and dynamic learning media and technologies that can be used in distance education. I also fall in the middle of the continuum and is working toward the dynamic end of the continuum. This is my first time working on a blog so this is interesting and enlightening for me as we continue to learn more about technologies and how to use them in this course and others.

  2. Sonja: I really found some similarities between your concept map and mine. I have long been arguing the use of powerpoint as a waste for students to work in. I see its place when presenting notes and such in class, but have worked along side colleagues that have boasted of their infusion of technology. They would spend weeks creating a powerpoint with the students that they created the topics and subtopics...to me this was just replication and recall...this was not an authentic technology experience for the students.
